Recycled Sustainable Briquettes

Design Challenge

Every year, Kenya loses approximately 12,000 hectares of forest. A big percentage of this is deforestation is by small scale villages for local burning and cooking. In an effort to mitigate and end deforestation in Kenya for this purpose, I will design and distribute sustainably burning briquettes, made from recycled materials. This will provide an urgently needed source of heat, light, and cooking resources to low-income people, without them needing to cut down more trees across Kenya.
